Lisa Barnes grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended nursing school at Brigham Young University. She received her Masters in Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health from the University of Utah in May 2008. She then moved to Alexandria, Virginia and joined Physicians and Midwives as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She has also worked as a nurse in Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery. She has volunteered as a nurse in Bolivia, Argentina, and Swaziland South Africa. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, traveling, anything outdoors, and especially being with her family and friends. She has three sisters, one brother, and nine nieces and nephews. Her younger sister Katie, who has Down syndrome, has been a very special and happy part of her life. She is passionate about providing midwifery health care and empowering women during their childbearing experiences and throughout their lives.
